EDUCATION MUST LEAD EMPOWERMENT – FORMER GOVERNOR P.B. ACHARYA

Mangaluru: The students of Expert Pre University College Valachil had a rare opportunity to interact with the former governor of Nagaland and Assam Mr. P.B. Acharya. Addressing the students in the cultural centre of the campus he said, “Getting a mere degree certificate should not be the purpose of education. Education must lead to the empowerment of an individual. Universities should produce job givers rather than job seekers. Academic knowledge should be socially oriented.” 

He also urged the youngsters to contribute to the nation building and make India a strong nation. One of the nine brand ambassadors to the ambitious Swacch Bharath Mission, Mr. P.B. Acharya appreciated the management, staff and the students of Expert P.U. College, Valachil for materialising the aspirations of the mission on the campus.

The students interacted with the former governor with their inquisitive umpteen questions spanning from education, politics, and affairs of North- East India to the issues of national interest.

Prof. Narendra L. Nayak, Chairman Expert Group of Institutions presided over the function and felicitated the dignitary with a shawl. Dr.Ushaprabha N. Nayak, Vice Chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions offered a floral welcome to the guest. Dr. N.K. Vijayan Karippal, principal introduced Mr. P.B. Acharya to the gathering and accorded a warm welcome to the dignitaries.

Architect Ms. Deepika A Nayak, Mr. Dinesh Shenoy and Mrs. Sheela Dinesh were present on the occasion.
