Mangaluru, 30th September 2016: “EDU-PATH: Career Guidance Programme – 2016” was held at Expert P.U. College Campus, Valachil. This programme, an annual feature of Expert since 1992, aims to provide the students comprehensive and up-to-date information on the full range of options in higher education in order to develop their career management and employability skills.
Dr. M. Shantharama Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte University, Mangaluru inaugurated the programme. Dr. Shetty began his inaugural address by recollecting his long association with the Chairman and admired his tenacity in building the great institution called Expert. Using the analogy of journey, he averred that education needn't be confined to one destination as there are many paths. Citing diverse examples, anecdotes and stories, he urged the students to develop the all-round qualities inherent in them, as ordinary things have no place in the competitive world. He advised the students to brace themselves for the tough competition in life, because competition brings out the best in us. He felt that students need to cultivate a positive outlook about failures, so that they continue to dream and pursue them.
The Guest of Honour for the day, Dr. S. M. Shivaprakash, Director of Extension, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar in his rousing speech, stressed the importance of self confidence amongst students. He shared motivating stories from the lives of Swami Vivekananda and Saint Panini to inspire the students.

He observed that Career Guidance Programme is important for II PUC students as it helps them fine tune their future plans and expand the vista of their career options. Prof. Nayak asserted that students at Expert receive the right orientation well in advance and pursue various courses without any hassles. Reiterating Dr. Shantharama Shetty's view that competition is inevitable, he counselled the students to view competition as an opportunity to prove to themselves that they are the best. He also instructed them not to get bogged down by failure as it helps them introspect whether they are on the right path or not.
